More about this list

Every entry on this page is open to anyone or says outright that guests are welcome, so no membership stands between a visitor and a game. In Cologne that means the Wednesday evening in the Herrenhaus of the Bürgerzentrum Nippes, the Tuesday afternoon chess club at the Bürgerhaus Zollstock, the open Tuesday evenings once listed at the Lifetime-House in Rondorf, and the chess groups of the senior networks in Sülz-Klettenberg and Dünnwald, where newcomers with or without experience are invited.

Outside the city, the Schachtreff in the Knusperhäuschen in Königswinter and the Friday meeting in Bornheim-Uedorf take whoever comes. The park tournament in the Grüngürtel and the chess and music evenings in a Cologne bar were open events, and so are the large opens: the Cologne city championship, the summer opens of Leverkusen and Hennef, the Brühl Open and the Bonn qualifier of the German amateur championship.
