More about this list

This list gathers every place in the region where a game can be found, sorted by kind. Most of them are clubs: their evenings run on a fixed weekday in school buildings, parish halls, community centres and club rooms. Beside them, Cologne has neighbourhood offers that need no membership, such as the open Wednesday evening in the Herrenhaus of the Bürgerzentrum Nippes, the Tuesday afternoon at the Bürgerhaus Zollstock, and the chess groups of the senior networks in Sülz-Klettenberg, Dünnwald and Riehl.

Further out, the Schachtreff in the Knusperhäuschen in Königswinter meets on Thursday evenings and the Schachtreff Bornheim-Uedorf every Friday afternoon. Summer brings the park tournament in the Grüngürtel and, in 2026, a monthly evening of chess and music in a Cologne bar. The open tournaments of Cologne, Leverkusen, Hennef, Brühl and Bonn are listed here too, since anyone may enter them.
